who...are...you...

A few weeks ago I received my order from the black apple. In it was this amazing postcard collection of her painting series of alice in wonderland. Each one is so beautiful I almost don't want to mail them away. I am going to save a few of my favorites to frame. She had the originals for sale in her shop, but those flew off the shelves and now she's selling prints of each one in addition to this postcard set. You can see why she's the biggest seller on etsy!

movie interiors: defintely, maybe

Rachel Weisz's Apartment:

isla fisher's loft:

I can't explain why I like this movie so much. I first saw it last year when it was in constant rotation on HBO. I found myself turning to it every time it was on while channel surfing. Maybe it's my love for all things 90's (which the movie is set in) or my love for Rachel Weisz and Isla Fisher. But I think it's mostly due to the beautiful set decoration. Sucks me in every time! I love Rachel's powder blue and yellow apartment with the gorgeous windows and woodwork. She has the same signature palette in her apartment years later.

Isla's apartment is more grungy set in an urban loft with a bright red cement floor. I love her worn leather sofa and collection of Jane Eyre novels. (one of my favorite parts of the story). Both have gorgeous tufted benches in their dining alcoves. Rachel's in a refined turquoise fabric and Isla's in a punchy red vinyl.

let's get organized

I've been wanting to reorganize my studio ever since the flood. It's been cleaned up, with a new wall and paint, but I never really got it back to a condition I want to work in. Lately I've been eyeing some vintage/antique pieces to better organize the space. I have an old metal flat file, but it's tan and haven't felt like spraying it yet as it will be quite an undertaking. If only my mom would give me her lawyer's cabinet! These pieces from factory 20 will have to serve as inspiration for now. ($300 for a metal tin?! are they crazy?!)

gimmie an "M"

As you may or may not know, I am obsessed with lights, especially this christmas or circus/fair variety. I've been seeing more and more of these vintage sign letters popping up in design magazines & shows. I found some that people have made from recycled metal, but I want the real thing. I've been on the lookout for either an "M" "J" or a "K". I'll let you know how that works out...

fairytale wedding

Love the photos of Kate Moss' wedding. It looked like such a romantic bohemian affair complete with flowing white dresses, crowns of flowers and even teepees. That shot of the bridesmaids walking into the church reminds me of The Virgin Suicides. More photos here.
