little bit

So last week I happened to see a facebook ad that Lykke Li was coming to atl last night. I got really excited because 1) I've been wanting to see her live since her first album came out in 2008 and 2) facebook ads never give me anything useful. Well i was lucky enough to snag 2 tickets under face value on stubhub and my hubs and I went and saw her last night.

She was absolutely amazing. She is so much fun to watch. Her voice was spectacular and you could tell she was really into the music (she kept banging on the cymbals with a drumstick in a couple of songs). I love when you see and artist/band live and it makes you fall even more in love with them.

topiary art

I was looking through an old copy of the late House & Garden and came across this interesting article on topiarist Matt Larkin. He welds this beautiful metal forms (this article focuses on his animal pieces) and then grows the plant to create the shape of the structure. You could have a very easy to maintain version of Edward Scissorhands' garden in your own backyard.

movie interiors: love and other drugs

This was on HBO recently and I forgot how gorgeous Maggie's loft is in this movie. The beautiful exposed brick and wooden beams, the huge windows, vintage fridge, clawfoot tub and gorgeous tufted green sofa. She even has a vintage sx-70 polaroid camera complete with a polaroid wall by her entry way. The only thing I could do without is the open toilet area...sometimes doors are a necessity.

i fell into a dream

Recently discovered these amazing mixed media sculptures by artist Christina Bothwell. She uses cast glass, raku clay, paint and found objects in her very dreamlike pieces. I love the translucency of the glass, it makes it so surreal.

open studio

I'm going to an open house studio sale this weekend. Always inspires me every year. I really need to get my downstairs space set-up properly.

candy coated dreams

Just discovered Louis Vuitton's 2012 Spring RTW Collection. All I can say is....wow. What a breathtaking show, with the enormous white carousel and candy colored confection-like dresses all topped off with the creepy Suspiria music. If I could pick one show to have been at this year, it most definitely would be this one.

dandelion ceiling

in awe of this amazing dandelion installation by artist Regine Ramseier. She hand picked all of these perfect little dandelions and hung them upside down to dry out, then installed them to hang from the ceiling. Amazing that none of them have lost their "petals". So lovely.

Loving this new series by Tim Walker for Italian Vogue. He is such a genius.

Hope everyone had a lovely Halloween! Just finished posting my new 2012 calendars. I had a lot of fun making them this time. Not sure yet which one is my favorite, but probably the polaroid one. Can't believe it's already November!
