party girl
I just started a new series this week. I've had a ton of ideas in my head over the last couple of weeks and didn't know where they were heading until I finished the top piece a couple of days ago. I finished the blue one yesterday. They are both pencil and watercolor on thick 140 lb. cold-pressed watercolor paper (which I love). I'm going to do some more of these, but in the meantime I've made prints available on Society6 and the originals are available in my etsy shop.

pretty packaging
I love getting stuff in the mail. Especially when it's wrapped up as lovely as my latest etsy purchase from pretty little thieves. I grabbed the mail while my husband and I were leaving to go to whole foods and was so excited when I found this lovely little package amidst the junk mail. It was wrapped so pretty I waited until I go home to open it (and I have absolutely no patience whatsoever so that says a lot) just so I could photograph it. This sad party girl is now brightening up my living room.

vintage carousel
a new print and free shipping at society6 now through the 10th through this link: http://society6.com/morgankendall?promo=8fb62a
You may remember my 3D version of a multi-animal carousel. I've been so into drawing lately with my animal series I thought I'd do a 2D version. It looks really cute as a shirt, I just might have to get it.

turning 30
So I turned 30 a week ago. It feels weird to write that. I don't feel 30 and apparently I don't look 30 as pretty much every new person I encounter asks me what school I go to. I always liked getting older for that reason, but 30 just sounds so different. Most of my friends are past that mark so I thought it wouldn't bother me and it doesn't really. It's just weird to state my age now. I had a lovely birthday and it all started by having my desk covered in french macarons and cupcakes with gold candles, a big bunch of balloons (as seen above) and a tiara which I wore all day. All compliments of my lovely friend Emilie. Late that day I saw this article:
I guess turning 30 isn't so bad after all.

movie stills: save the date
Saturday morning I was watching a movie trailer on imdb and then it rolled into the next one (so sneaky) and that is how I discovered this movie. It was exactly what I felt like watching at that exact moment so imagine my delight when I found it was available on amazon instant. It was a pretty good film with a great cast. I'm a sucker for art related characters and story lines. The artwork of the main character Sarah (played by Lizzy Caplan) was done by graphic novelist and illustrator Jeffrey Brown. One of my favorite things in this movie was the carousel horse outside the front of the gallery. So perfect. And music from the fictional band "Wolfbird" with Martin Starr and Geoffrey Arend was pretty awesome also.

wreaths and nests
check out these amazingly beautiful drawings by artist Denise Nestor. I particularly love this wreath series. They are so beautifully composed and well drawn. She has a show going on right now, which I would love to see, in Ireland. It's up through Sept. 10 and The Bernard Shaw. You can also check out her blog Trees for the Woods for more of her work.

animal kingdom continued
I've continued working on my animal series. I love working on these. They're so fun and playful and I get to brush up on my drawing skills. In addition to these I also have an elephant, a jack rabbit, another horse, and a pair of fawns. Any other animals you would like to see? I'm thinking maybe a peacock. All available as prints, iphone cases, and laptop skins at society6.

into the woods
I am completely in love with these amazing illustrations by Daniel Egneus. I love his style of the vibrant yet loosely drawn red cape mixed with washes of color and detailed line drawings. He adds a new level of eeriness with his fantastical depictions. Just bought my copy.
