chanel and cinderella
I absolutely adore the Chanel Spring 2013 Couture Collection. It is insanely beautiful and innovative. How crazy are those shoe/boot/leggings? They make every outfit. My favorite has got to be the top black and white little dress. So classic and beautiful just like Chanel. The last dress reminds me of this awesomely crazy dress one of the ugly stepsisters wore in my favorite adaptation of Cinderella illustrated by Hilary Knight (who also did Eloise). The length, the ragged texture, even the hair! So perfect.
-Holy crap! I just looked up how much my copy of Cinderella is worth! Children's books are apparently a good investment, not just for your child's development!

75 Books
I did much better than last year, but I still didn't make it back up to 100. I don't know if I'll ever be able to repeat that. I got stuck several times this year, not knowing what to read next so I picked up books that had been on my shelf for years that I had started and put back over and over again. I finally read almost all of them and quite a few made it on this list. I'm about to be stuck again, so if you have any recommendations, please comment below!

feathers, antlers, & pagodas oh my
Alexander McQueen was a master of theatrical fashion. He used materials in ways you'd never imagined. I am constantly inspired when I go back and look through his archives. I particularly love his fantastical headpieces that adorned his looks. I'm just going down the street in a gorgeous lace gown with giant glass(?) antlers with sheer fabric on my head. So dreamy. I wish I could have seen the Savage Beauty exhibition at the Met. This book will have to suffice.

Ben Wishaw for GQ UK
Oh how I love Ben Wishaw. Very few men could pull off this flowery/debonair suit photo shoot, but Ben Wishaw certainly can. You may remember him from Bright Star. Well, he has several new projects coming out including the very intriguing Cloud Atlas and the highly anticipated Season 2 of The Hour. You can check out Season 1 on the BBC on demand.
(he so needs to play Marco in the upcoming film adaptation of The Night Circus!)

the art of forgetting
My first book cover came out yesterday. It was on display right when I walked into Barnes and Noble! I am so excited, especially since it's a photo I took of my husband and I together. Could not be more perfect. I started reading it yesterday and am almost halfway through. It's called The Art of Forgetting by Camille Noe Pagan and you can purchase it here.

night home

Just purchased this beautiful book of black and white illustrations by artist Becca Stadtlander. The drawings are so celestial and dreamy. Can't wait to receive it!
