i love the world sometimes

I was going to do a post of my favorite things today, but I saw this and just had to post about it. Well one of my favorite things is listening to a piano playing so I guess this ties in pretty well. Whoever came up with this idea is a genius.

movie interiors - failure to launch

In continuing with my love of movie sets, this next one shows how visual a person I am. I did not like this movie at all. I didn't even want to see it. I cannot stand Matthew McConnahay. But the apartment that SJP and Zooey shared was so perfect. I own this movie just to look at their house. There are so many quirky details that make it so adorable. It kind of reminds me of anthropologie. Anyway, here's a few scenes that showcase it.

see, just the print of the back of the door. ingenious.

I LOVE the yellow panes.

the red drawers in the background. ahh!

and their incredibly cute kitchen (sorry for the lopsided shot.)

btw- the name of the movie is Failure To Launch

New pieces

I haven't made any new pieces except polaroids in awhile. I just made these two yesterday and am pretty happy with them. Looks like I'll be revisiting my femininity series:

love love love

I've never liked valentine's day, but I am feeling especially sappy in love lately. All I'm wishing for this year is not to be sick and maybe get some good italian food. Enjoy these lovely displays of affection I found on flickr.

overdue

I meant to post this back in November, shows you how off I am. I went to a lovely artist's open house of two of my friends Frank Shelton and Debra Fritts. They both teach where I work and are delightful people. (and they just got married a few months ago). They have this open studio every year at their house. It is so filled with art and architectural details you could never possibly see everything in one visit.

romeo and juliet

I fell in love with the story of romeo and juliet when I was in middle school as I'm sure we all did. I almost have it completely memorized. I, unlike some people loved the 1996 version. I just recently saw the 1968 version and I have to say I was a bit disappointed. They cut out my favorite line from the play!

It's right after they get married and juliet is waiting for him to sneak into her room, talking to herself and she says:

"Take him and cut him into little stars and he will make the face of heaven so fine that all the world will be in love with night and pay no worship to the garrish sun."

I have to say, 1968 Romeo looks exactly like Zach Efron:

I really want a copy of the barnes and noble shakespeare series:

ok, this season of this office has been kind of boring. It's been missing the charm and hilarity of the earlier episodes, but the episode after the superbowl lifted my fears that the show was going downhill. Last night's episode was the funniest episode I have seen in a very long time. I was literally laughing until my sides ached. I just watched it again this morning on nbc.com

childhood dresses

I just found this artist Jennifer Collier who makes these beautiful paper sculptures of children's shoes and dresses. They are so delicate and ethereal looking.

I did a series of encaustic dresses on wood several years ago. There's something so lovely about preserving childhood. A lot of people loose their childhood innocence and wonder and that is something I am trying desperately to hold on to for as long as I can. (I need to do some more encaustics soon!)

movie interiors - barefoot in the park

I've been wanting to do a series of posts of my favorite movie interiors. I have so many. Sometimes I will buy a movie just because I like the apt or house in it so much. My first one is one of my favorites, Barefoot in the Park. It's a very small apartment but so adorable.

I don't know if I could handle this tiny bedroom with two people though. I need my space when I sleep.

I have of list of about 20 movies so far, but I'd love to hear some of your favorites!

I'm back!

Today and yesterday were the first two days I have felt well in the past three weeks! I found out I have really low blood pressure and when it drops, it causes my heart to beat twice as fast as it should and I get a rush of adrenaline along with the worst pain I have ever felt in my entire life. Oh and on top of that, I have a cold. Now, I know what it is at least and I have medication. Crazy past few weeks though.

During this whole time, I read the entire twilight saga which was absolutely wonderful. I saw the movie first and loved it so much I had to read the books. Now I have the biggest crush on Edward Cullen and Robert Pattinson.

I also recently found this artist Tamar Mogendorff whose work is absolutely lovely. Here's a few of my favorite pieces of hers:
