a lovely day for tea
On my mom's most recent trip to visit her family in Kentucky my amazing aunt sent back with her, my grandmother's HUGE collection of pink depression glass. I now have more than I know what to do with. I've got enough to have a complete plated dinner for 8 people including serving platters, tea, ice cream, floats, and even salt and pepper shakers! I must have some people over soon.

miu miu red desert

Blogger is not cooperating with me this morning, but I'll get over it. I was this first shot for Miu Miu's SS13 collection in a magazine recently and I felt it was very french new wave. The more I looked at it the more it reminded me of Michaelangelo Antonioni's film Red Desert. One of my all-time faves. I decided to look up the rest of the ad campaign and it has to be the inspiration for this shoot. There are so many perfect details captured, from the color of the drapes, to the exact pose of her lounging on the bed, to the iconic red room. I've had this movie on my amazon wish list for awhile now and I think I might just have to buy it.

welcome to the 21st century
After 7 1/2 years with my lovely durable LG phone, I begrudgingly decided to take the leap into the 21st century and get an iphone 4. At least since I waited this long it was only $1. I have admit I am loving having a camera on me at all times. I was going through a little photography rut lately and now I think this combined with the changing weather is inspiring me a bit. So now I am on instagram. You can follow me here. Don't be shy, I love seeing everyone's feeds. There's such a huge range of photo taking on there. I love it.

a ship of lace
I've been slowly working on this ship for the last 2 weeks and I finally finished it yesterday. I had a lot of ups and downs with it. I almost scrapped the base before I decided to bend the back out and put the lace and velvet ribbon trim on. Sometimes things have to be really ugly before they become beautiful.

sketching elle
I just picked up the latest issue of Bullett Magazine and am so glad I did. This may be my favorite issue yet. Each one has a theme this one being the Surreal Issue. There are three covers out, and even though I am obsessed with this photo shoot, I'm glad my area had the one with Michael Pitt on it. I was even more elated when I flipped through and found this incredibly interesting shoot with the always lovely Elle Fanning shot by Pierre Debusschere. I love the smatterings of colors that look like smeared paint, mixed with the organic lines drawn onto all of the photos. Perfectly in tune with this months theme. There are also many more fantastic interviews and artist spotlights this month. Definitely worth picking up a copy.

turning 30
So I turned 30 a week ago. It feels weird to write that. I don't feel 30 and apparently I don't look 30 as pretty much every new person I encounter asks me what school I go to. I always liked getting older for that reason, but 30 just sounds so different. Most of my friends are past that mark so I thought it wouldn't bother me and it doesn't really. It's just weird to state my age now. I had a lovely birthday and it all started by having my desk covered in french macarons and cupcakes with gold candles, a big bunch of balloons (as seen above) and a tiara which I wore all day. All compliments of my lovely friend Emilie. Late that day I saw this article:
I guess turning 30 isn't so bad after all.

the lost image
Aren't these photographs by Oleg Oprisco absolutely stunning. I had seen some of them before, namelessly posted all over the internet, and now I've finally tracked down the creator. These are inspiring to pick up my camera and shoot more often.
