Lydia Courtielle

Just came across this amazing Parisian jewelry designer Lydia Courtielle via pintrest. Her work is so lovely. It's very regal and glamorous yet has a sweet & sinister quality to each piece. That Parisian skyline tiara melts my heart.

dreamy dresses

Valentino Fall Couture Show. I especially love the backstage photo. You can see the full collection here. You must watch the video runway footage, especially of the last dress I posted. It's amazing to watch the dresses move and sparkle in the light and how different they can look in motion.

I might need to wear a halo of gold stars in my hair tomorrow...

felt animals

I have had zero inspiration to do photography lately. I miss making things with my hands. (a lot of times I use that in my photographs, but still.) So I've been making these soft sculptures the past few weeks. It started with a small flat owl, then I decided I want to make something more 3D so I made the deer. I made a few others that aren't photographed. My favorite has to be Finnegan the fox. He was the most difficult.

Then on Monday I got this idea to use other things besides felt. I've had a long fascination with typewriters and my dad took apart one for me a looong time ago so I could use the keys in artwork. I found my box of remaining parts and thought the strikers would make amazing wings and went from there. I dipped cut paper in wax to create the feathers and sewed the entire thing yesterday. I made him some legs last night out of some twigs from my yard and wire. He has a hard time standing up so I might make a wooden stand for him. I'd love to get something like this for him. And he needs a name...

movie stills: the night of the hunter

One of the most beautifully shot films I have ever seen. Just watched The Night of the Hunter last night with Robert Mitchum (who I am now deeply terrified of). It was such a simple story yet so beautifully done. It will stay with you for days. 1955.
