secrets of female sensuality
Recently discovered the works of amazingly talented artist Natalie Richy. She has an exhibition coming up next month at the Westminster Reference Library. She works only using traditional techniques yet her work still has a modern look to it. Wish I could go see it in person!

oscars fashion
The Oscars were suprisingly very entertaining this year. A million times better than last year. What a snoozefest. The dresses were amazing as well. By far my best dressed for the night was Michelle Williams. She looked so gorgeous in her Louis Vuitton gown. Anyone else notice this?

fluttery breath of life
just discovered these gorgeous organza butterfly wings necklaces made by Turkish artist Derya Aksoy. I love the transparency of the organza and all of the layers of the wings. I would love that last one even just with the cream and black wings by themselves. The blue in the first one is incredibly striking though. She also makes earrings and bracelets as well so check out her etsy shop.

everything merges with the night
Here's a photo of my latest piece at a show called Another Green World. The gallery asked 14 artists to pick a song off the 1975 Brian Eno Album "Another Green World" and create a piece to go with it. I chose the song Everything Merges With The Night. I framed a polaroid print and made a mermaid tail out of paper and encaustic (beeswax).

paper jewels
Just found these amazing sculptures by artist Kristen Hassenfeld. I love how they illuminate in the light making them even more fantastical. There's so much detail, if you'll notice in her giant orbs there's a little story being told with a girl and a castle. You can see more of her beautiful work here.

feeling blue
Loving the Fall 2012 collection from Oscar de la Renta. This collection is full of classy and regal dresses with just bit of quirk and fun. That last pastel blue party dress is my absolute favorite. Wouldn't that be so fun to wear to a party? (provided you have unlimited cashflow...) and how much fun are those sparkly shoes?

movie stills: black swan
The first time I saw this movie I was having dizzy spells so I had to close my eyes in more parts than I cared to. I finally rewatched it all the way through last week and loved it even more (now that I could actually watch the whole thing without feeling nauseated.) This movie was so beautifully shot. The lighting, silhouettes, mirrored reflections and spinning just added so much to this beautiful story. Darren Aronofsky can somehow make even the most disgusting images seem beautiful (ex: requiem for a dream)
