What I've been up to

I have been very busy lately. Carpaccio Magazine Issue #18 just came out with one of my images in it. You can view it here. I also have work in F-stop Magazine Issue #43 which you can view here starting Friday October 1st. Also that day I will have four pieces in this show in Little Five in Atlanta.

I won't be at the opening because I will be at the beach!!! We're going to St Simons/ Jekyll Island/Cumberland Island which are all about 5 miles apart. My first real vacation in 5 years (i.e. not going to a wedding or family reunion). The last time we went anywhere just for us was our honeymoon. We were going to go next weekend for our actual anniversary, but there's a stupid PGA Golf tournament that weekend and every single hotel/inn that wasn't disgusting was booked up. (and who wants to be around that anyway?) We're going horseback riding on the beach on Saturday, which I have ALWAYS wanted to do! I can't wait! I'll post some photos on Tuesday when we get back. Have a lovely weekend!

movie interiors: benny & joon

When I was about 10 this was my absolute dream house. I loved the idea that you could go around painting little bits and pieces all over your own house. Like the single red stair or the blue dots painting on a support beam. Joon's studio is still my dream studio. Imagine having that gorgeous room with all of those windows overlooking a stream. Perfect. This was Johnny Depp as I like to remember him. Young, quirky and oddly adorable. If you haven't seen this movie I highly recommend it.

Meryl Smith

I found out about Meryl Smith when I was looking through my book of I'm Here. I fell in love with her apartment and discovered her blog with some of her other amazing projects.

drenched in blood

True Blood Season 3 is over and now we have to wait until next summer for it to start up again. Why HBO? Why? You can register to win some actual wardrobe items worn by the cast though. They would make some great Halloween costumes.

Maryann's Wedding Dress

Sookie's Coat from Season 2 at Godric's House

Lorena's Death Dress

Sookie's Merlotte's shirt (why they have it paired with skinny jeans instead of black shorts is beyond me)

Eric's Shirt and Leather Jacket. (my personal favorite)

Spring Color

I love all of the beautiful bright color that's being shown in the 2011 Spring Collections right now. It's so refreshing. As much as I love to wear black and grey, I love to bust out the color every now and then.

on my wishlist

just discovered this AMAZING planner via daydream lily. I love how different every page is and the fun illustrations. The best part - it's cloth bound hard back in a gorgeous peppermint green.

I'm Here

My brother just got me this book that was put out by McSweeny's of the short film "I'm Here" by Spike Jonze. The book contains the dvd and the soundtrack. I hadn't even heard of it when he gave it to me, but I watched it this weekend and fell in love. It's a wonderfully romantic story involving two robot people, one of them is the ever charming Andrew Garfield. I just love british boys.

Here's the trailer:

and you can watch the full 30 min. film here.

Jane Fonda, You're My Hero

So I decided I want to go as Barbarella for Halloween this year. I just love all of her crazy costumes. My mom also used to wear her hair like that so I'm pretty sure she could help me with mine.

So my husband and I watched this movie again last night (which if you haven't seen it I highly recommend it fi you like 60's sci-fi cheese) and we were joking around about if they tried to remake this movie now how bad it would be and we couldn't even think of one person that could even remotely play Jane Fonda.

Well in my costume search this morning, I stumbled on a page that said stupid John Carpenter is going to remake it in 2012. Then IMDB confirmed this. They're looking at Jessica Alba, Katherine Heigel and Sienna Miller as possible Barbarellas. I think I'm going to throw up.

This is the one I want to wear (minus the see-through boob)
